About the Vineyards

Nance’s Vineyard

Alexander Nance's Vineyard Ousterhout WineValley
Nestled up against a southwest-facing hillside, our ten-acre estate property contains five acres of Zinfandel. Morning fog from the Petaluma Gap and Russian River Valley helps to preserves the acidity in the grapes in this location. The cool nights and sunny afternoons provide for a long growing season, which also keeps the sugar levels from spiking. Coupled with meticulous farming and careful attention to the sugar levels, Nance's Vineyard produces Zinfandel that is medium-bodied with complex flavors. During the winter and spring, abundant cover crop such as lavender, alfalfa sprouts, and California poppies (as shown on the right) replenish the soil. Also beehives, vegetable gardens, as well as fruit and olive trees flourish on the property.

Redwood Ranch Vineyard

Alexander Valley
Redwood Ranch is located in the southern part of Alexander Valley; it borders the Russian River, which has a cooling effect. Our fruit is sourced from specific rows that tend to accumulate sugar more slowly than the rest of the vineyard. The grapes from these particular vines impressed us with their tropical flavors. This vineyard is owned and farmed by Jim and Gayle Reed.

800 Vines Vineyard

Russian River Valley
This vineyard is located in the Green Valley AVA of the Russian River Valley. This one-acre Pinot Noir vineyard was planted in 2001 and it was purchased by Tim and Kathy Dellinger in 2010. Well-drained Goldridge soil and the temperate climate are a winning combination when it comes to producing great Pinot Noir fruit.

Woods Vineyard

Russian River Valley
This tiny vineyard (less than two acres) is in the southern part of the Russian River Valley. Planted to clone 777, it thrives in the sandy loam soils. Fog rolls up to the vineyard most mornings and nights, which has a perfect cooling affect that Pinot Noir loves. Owned by the Wood Family, it is meticulously farmed and cared for by them year-round.

Grist Vineyard

Dry Creek Valley
Perched atop a ridge west of Dry Creek Valley, Bradford Mountain is home to our Grist Vineyard Zinfandel. Owned by wine industry veteran Bill Hambrecht, this vineyard features rich, red soil composed of volcanic rock, iron, and a touch of clay. Combined with the elevation and its proximity to the coast, these vines produce wine with intensity and depth while retaining high acidity. Cool afternoon breezes from the Pacific Ocean calm the afternoon temperatures on Bradford Mountain, keeping it cooler than the lower Dry Creek Valley (an important component in maintaining acidity in the grapes). Grist Vineyard is planted to multiple grape varieties including Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Syrah, but the old-vine, head-trained Zinfandel is our favorite.

Bucher Vineyard

Russian River Valley

Bucher Farms uses organic compost from the family farm in the vineyard. This allows  the Bucher's to introduce micronutrients into the soil that the vines need to produce high-quality fruit. It also allows them to irrigate less because the compost acts as protective mulch under the vines as we drip irrigate.
